How to get rid of a wasp nest

While autumn may signal a decline in wasp numbers, you may be surprised to learn that our Cambridge Pest Controllers continue to receive a large number of call outs from Cambridge residents and businesses asking us to remove wasp nests from their lofts, sheds, buildings and gardens.  

 

Removing a wasp nest is definitely a job for a qualified pest controller. Even if the wasp nest appears to have been abandoned, any remaining wasps will feel threatened if the wasp nest is disturbed and may become aggressive.

 

 

Removing a wasp nest will depend on where the wasp nest was found, how long it’s been there and if any of the nesting wasps are causing a problem.  If the wasp nest isn't causing an immediate problem, then our wasp removal expert may decide not to remove the nest. In some cases, our wasp nest removal team may treat the nesting wasps so that they don't pose a threat to you or your family. 

 

Can I remove a wasp nest myself?

 

While we would always advise you to call a professional pest control company to remove a wasp nest, there are occasions where you might be able to safely remove a wasp nest from your property yourself;

 

• the wasp nest is very small i.e. the size of a tennis ball (early spring wasp nests are smaller than mature summer/ autumn wasp nests)
• the level of wasp activity around the nest is minimal
• you are not allergic to wasp stings
