SQUIRRELS

 

Grey squirrels may look cute, but not when they are running around in your loft at 4am!! Like rats, their teeth grow continuously and they like to gnaw, especially on pipes and wires whilst they are in your loft.

 

Within Cambridgeshire there are a couple of areas where black squirrels are regularly seen, we are currently assisting with research into whether these are a mutation of the grey or greys with a darker pigment.

 

Best Advice:

 

• Trap or poison the squirrels and then block up any access holes
• If traps are placed they must be checked daily to prevent distress to any caught animals
• It is an offence to release a grey squirrel if it has been caught in a live trap; it needs to be dispatched humanely
